Private Alaska Guide | Proud Iñupiaq | Lifelong Alaskan
Alaska isn’t just where I work. It’s home.

Blueberry Tours was built on the belief that exploring Alaska should feel personal, relaxed, and meaningful — not rushed or scripted.

A Lifelong Connection to Alaska

I’m Shane “Avalook” McHale, a proud Iñupiaq with family roots in northern Alaska. Growing up connected to this land shaped how I understand it — not just as scenery, but as history, culture, weather, wildlife, and lived experience.

Alaska is dynamic. The light changes quickly. Wildlife appears when you least expect it. Mountain conditions shift by the hour. Knowing how to move through that environment comes from living here.

When you tour with me, you’re not just seeing Alaska — you’re experiencing it through the perspective of someone who knows its rhythms.

Why I Created Blueberry Tours

I created Blueberry Tours to offer something different from crowded bus experiences and rigid itineraries.

Private tours mean:

• You set the pace
• We stop when something catches your eye
• Conversations are real
• Stories are shared naturally
• Your day feels unhurried

Whether you’re here for a few hours or a full-day adventure, I design each experience to reflect the land and your interests.

What It’s Like to Tour With Me

Expect a relaxed, knowledgeable guide who:

• Knows where wildlife is often spotted
• Understands the best scenic timing and lighting
• Adjusts routes based on weather and conditions
• Shares both cultural and modern Alaska perspectives
• Captures professional photos along the way

You won’t feel rushed.
You won’t feel like a number.
You’ll feel welcomed.

Proudly Alaska Native-Owned

Blueberry Tours is an Alaska Native-owned, locally operated business. My heritage and lived experience influence how I guide — with respect for the land, awareness of its history, and appreciation for the communities who call it home.

That perspective isn’t added for effect.
It’s simply part of who I am.

Let’s Plan Your Alaska Day

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning to see more, I look forward to sharing Alaska in a way that feels personal and authentic.
